Ted Mo Chen is a self-driven entrepreneur working across education, technology, and media — fields that, at their best, both inform and inspire. He is currently Chief of Staff and Head of Marketing at Classin, a three-billion-dollar edtech unicorn and a global leader in interactive classrooms, learning management systems, and digital learning hardware, serving 50 million students worldwide.

Reporting to the founder and CEO and leading an elite creator team, Ted shapes Classin's brand, marketing, and media strategy and stewards its owned-media channels. He led the concept and storytelling behind the company's flagship Intellispace solution, informing the construction of classrooms co-designed with Steelcase that helped the hardware business grow at triple-digit rates two years running. His work keeps returning to the same question: how thoughtful digital experiences can widen access to good teaching.

Earlier, as Classin's Vice President of Globalization, he led the enterprise effort that brought the platform into leading institutions as pilots, and designed a groundbreaking “Dual Board” instruction feature first trialed at Peking University and later scaled at Tsinghua's affiliated high school. He also led a project with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Education — staging classroom demonstrations for senior officials and helping build a series of digital-first lessons — that opened a path for Chinese edtech into Middle East public systems.

With precision and a measure of restraint, Ted writes about the systems, products, and ideas shaping education. He edits Learning Futures Review, a WeChat publication read by hundreds of thousands of education leaders, and writes Upstream, a newsletter on the business of learning and the craft of creativity in popular media. His commentary has been sought by The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Bloomberg, and CGTN, and he has contributed to Huxiu, SupChina, TechNode, THE Journal, and The Hechinger Report.

Ted has spoken at the ASU+GSV Summit, Tsinghua's Schwarzman College, and the education ministries of Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, and has guest lectured at Columbia University and Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Before Classin, he was a founder or founding executive at several early-stage ventures spanning subscription learning tools, mental-health software, and AI-driven STEM courses for children, backed by leading investors such as Lightspeed.

Selected as his department's valedictorian, Ted holds a Bachelor of Philosophy from Peking University. He played the title role in the university's 2019 production of Hamilton and remains an advocate for the democratization of musical theatre in China.

An avid business traveler, Ted has visited 37 countries across six continents and sat in on classrooms in nine of them, gaining a close view of international and collaborative education. Communities including Stanford FACES, IMUSE, the EPIIC/TILIP Forum at Tufts, and Duke–UNC CLS have welcomed him into a network fluent in Sino-US relations and cross-cultural exchange.

Outside work, Ted follows tennis, badminton, table tennis, curling, and hiking, reads widely in nonfiction, and is a vocalist in training.
